The Wing Bar – Bremont
Established in 2002, Bremont make luxury British watches at their state-of-the-art headquarters, The Wing, in Henley-on-Thames. This was a significant project for S&P and as part of the design and build, we were tasked with creating The Wing Bar, which sits on the first floor, above the production and office spaces at ground level.
With impressive views out across the Black Bears Polo Club, the bar sits at the apex of the sweeping low-slung suspended structure and our design built on the boutique retail spaces and branding already established. Working in collaboration with co-founders Nick and Giles English, we were inspired by the Bremont principles of Aviation, Engineering and Adventure.
The concealed blinds along the curtained walls were a challenge due to the nature of the front façade – curved in both plan and section – but were necessary to help control the ambient tone and brightness of the space and provide privacy when required. Sleek linear baffles follow the line of the ceiling and accommodate lighting and services.
Nestled in a quieter area of the mezzanine The Wing Bar is a snug space with a relaxed atmosphere. A mix of dark tones, elements of brand colours and aviation-themed pieces and artefacts, make it the prefect space for entertaining visitors and brand ambassadors.
The vision here for Bremont was to really build the home of British watchmaking, reinvigorating a historic British industry but with state of the art technology and facilities. To do this in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way was also crucial for us. As a luxury brand building beautiful products the building needs to emulate this in its design and function. Spratley & Partners has managed to encompass all of this and translate our vision very well indeed.
