20 Years Young
Spratley & Partners marks a significant milestone in its 20-year history as founder Jeremy Spratley steps back in leadership and moves into a more consultative role. The practice continues under the leadership of equity partners Stephen Smith, Robert Kennedy, Sarah Tassell, Chris Kelly, Gregg Thatcher, and Sam George.
This transition underscores the continuity and stability of Spratley & Partners, which joins the AJ100 list for the first time this year ranking 92nd, a notable achievement, highlighting the practice’s growing market presence and expanding influence in the industry. Spratley & Partners remains committed to its core sectors—commercial, private residential, hospitality, masterplanning, and life sciences—consistently delivering high-profile projects.
Stephen Smith, Managing Partner, describes the transition as “an exciting continuation of our journey at Spratley & Partners. Our commitment to our clients remains unwavering, and we look forward to collaborating on a diverse range of ambitious projects across the UK. With Jeremy’s continued presence and our talented team’s dedication, we are confident in maintaining the high standards of design and service that have defined us for the past two decades.”
Recent notable projects include Ascent, a significant life sciences development in Oxford for ARC Group, Knighton Mill, a private home in Wiltshire, a boathouse for Headington School in Oxford, and Building 3000, winner of the BCO South of England and South Wales Regional Awards for Best Recycled/Refurbished Workplace. The practice employs over 40 staff members across its studios in Henley-on-Thames and Bristol, working with clients across the UK in Greater London, the Home Counties, and the South West.
Reflecting on the practice’s success, Jeremy Spratley said, “After two wonderful decades, it is the right time to pass the baton to my fellow partners. The past few years have been particularly exciting, culminating in our inaugural AJ100 entry. I am proud to have built something that will continue to nurture talent and passion and will remain involved in a supportive role. I look forward to seeing further success in the future.”
Spratley & Partners continues its legacy by remaining focused on growth, design innovation, and maintaining strong client relationships.
