Coda Studios is a creative hub in the heart of Fulham offering boutique studios and office space. Spratley & Partners were appointed by Columbia Threadneedle to investigate options to provide gym, exercise studio and associated changing and lounge facilities to boost the amenity offering for the tenants.
The existing ground floor of the main building was dominated by the undercroft parking and its metal security gratings fronting onto a main access route. It was identified that locating the gym and lounge in this prominent location within the site would allow improved active frontages as well as visibly improved amenity offerings.
S&P developed proposals to create the additional ceiling height required for gym use, and detailed designs for lowering the ground floor slab. We worked alongside an acoustic consultant to ensure the surrounding office tenants and residential units were not adversely affected by noise transfer.
Internally the gym provides free weights, exercise machines and a fitness studio. Shower and changing facilities were provided for gym users as well as tenants of the wider site, promoting cycling or running to work. Exercise classes are run on a weekly basis and an on-site personal trainer is available for tenant sessions. After a workout the lounge area provides a relaxing area for collaboration with colleagues.
New glazed frontages and signage were created on the primary elevations with new hard landscaping providing accessible entrances into the lowered floor level.

Following yesterday’s Agent Launch the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with widespread opinion that the upgrade works have elevated Coda Studios significantly ahead of leasing competition.
