Little Bothy – Heckfield Place

The Little Bothy is a spa at Heckfield Place, a Grade II listed hotel and 430 acre estate in the Hampshire countryside. The spa was created as part of our larger project to reimagine and refurbish the estate.

Housed in a previously unused lower ground floor in a wing of the main building, the spa has two treatment rooms, each with an en suite shower room, and a larger couples room with a bespoke steam shower. A central relaxation area is a calming space with views to the garden. A separate gym and studio are housed in one of the cottages behind the walled garden.

The spa required careful planning to create cosy treatment rooms while also allowing the circulation and relaxation areas to benefit from natural daylight.

The design centres on a calming palette of natural materials and colours, creating a connection with the surrounding landscape. This, along with the hotel’s own range of natural treatments which focus on wellbeing and sustainability, enhances the guest experience, with all senses considered within the concept.
